Voom soon to be on its own

October 27, 2004

VoomCablevision, the parent company of Rainbow Media and Voom satellite, is said to be nearing the final stages of filing with the SEC to make Rainbow, along with Voom, separate companies. Voom has struggled of late, adding fewer subscribers than expected, but with almost 100 Million dollars in available cash and credit, claims of the satellite provider’s demise are premature.

Another potential save for Voom are those hush, hush rumors of a partnership or buyout from Dish Network, as well as the long anticipated Voom HDTV DVR, which is said to be nearing completion. This would give Voom a much needed push in subscriber base.
