Dish network SAT/DVR price drop

November 9, 2004

dvr_921Dish Network’s DISH Player-DVR 921 high definition satellite receiver, was recently dropped from $999 to $549. This would seem to indicate a model change in the works as this is as low as the DVR-921 has ever been offered at. Additionally I have a hard time seeing how a replacement DVR/SAT could be introduced at a significantly higher price, but anything is possible.

If you’re an existing DISH customer in the market for a HDTV receiver/digital video recorder, this might be your time. While Dish Network’s website hasn’t been updated to reflect the new price, I’m told the price is valid and current.

  • This is great news… I’d like to see this trend continue to allow more people to actually be able to afford a box like this. 1000 bucks is way too high, but between 5 and 6 hundred makes it almost an easy decision.

  • Hopefully DirecTV is not too far behind in making a similar announcement on their HDTV/DVR! I really, really, really want one, but there is no way I am forking out $999, now $549, I could manage that…
