Dish network SAT/DVR price drop
November 9, 2004
Dish Network’s DISH Player-DVR 921 high definition satellite receiver, was recently dropped from $999 to $549. This would seem to indicate a model change in the works as this is as low as the DVR-921 has ever been offered at. Additionally I have a hard time seeing how a replacement DVR/SAT could be introduced at a significantly higher price, but anything is possible.
If you’re an existing DISH customer in the market for a HDTV receiver/digital video recorder, this might be your time. While Dish Network’s website hasn’t been updated to reflect the new price, I’m told the price is valid and current.

Hopefully DirecTV is not too far behind in making a similar announcement on their HDTV/DVR! I really, really, really want one, but there is no way I am forking out $999, now $549, I could manage that…
Ditto, actually I’m just waiting on Voom’s DVR, hopefully before 2005…..
This is great news… I’d like to see this trend continue to allow more people to actually be able to afford a box like this. 1000 bucks is way too high, but between 5 and 6 hundred makes it almost an easy decision.
