It seems as though Americans are more knowledgeable in regards to HDTV than they were 2 years ago, but price is still a major concern among potential buyers.

A new study conducted by global survey research firm, Ipsos-Insight, states that 89% of Americans are aware of HDTV, which is up from 74% in 2002. While the percentage of consumers who haven’t heard of HDTV has dropped from 26% to 11%, HDTV purchase intent is flat, with 13% of Americans ‘very’ or ‘somewhat’ likely to buy HDTV in the near term, vs. 15% last year.

In other news:
If you own a Pioneer plasma television you might want to check to see if you’re PDP or PRO series display is part of a free power supply replacement, from the manufacturer. Apparently some of the power supplies in those lines have had a high failure rate.

I just ran across a handy ‘connection guide‘ at the Consumer Electronics Association’s website, it’s a little rough (little about DVI connection is mentioned) but with some polishing it could be very useful, to A/V beginners or anyone just needing a little refresher course.

According to some posters over at SatelliteGuys (posters who’s speculation proved to be accurate in the past) FoodTV & HGTV may be coming to Voom, although no timeframe is given.
