Happy Holidays

December 24, 2004

holidaysI just wanted to wish everyone a great holiday season, it’s already been a great break from work for me, I finally got around to running an extra set of surround cables in my room, and now I’m fully 7.1 capable. I was really impressed with how Gladiator sounded in DTS-ES on the SR-7500 with all the speakers active.

I hope all those theaters out are running smooth and hopefully showing something like ‘It’s a wonderful life‘ or a more recent classic like ‘A Christmas Story‘ and if the munchkins are asleep maybe even bad Santa

Cheers and happy holidays.

    Heck yeah,

I’d especially be interested in hearing about that Mitsubishi TV WS73713. I remember back when Mitsubishi was the undisputed (in my mind) rear projection king, Samsungs prevalence of the last few years really surprised some of us in the CE field, I just never saw them as being capable of the kind of sales they’ve shown recently.

Cool gear, thanks for sharing your set-up with us.

Just thought I’d fill you in on my recent upgrades…..from 8 yr old Mitsubishi TV VS6043 & Toshiba DVD SD2109 with 2 DishNetwork PVR’s to:
    Mitsubishi TV WS73713 w/HD Tuner and Toshiba SD5970 w/HD Up-conversion.

I had to get an HDMI to DVI cable to make the connection, but can see a noticable difference in the clarity of the DVD picture.

Not to mention the off-air HD broadcasts of the major networks…..almost all have a significant clarity over my satellite reception. And the multiple inputs allow me to have a separate input for HD, Satellite #1, Satellite #2, DVD, DVD-HD, VCR, and two analog antenna inputs.

The deal-maker was…..only $5k for the 73″ TV and having a daughter w/5 children to inherit the still running 60″ TV.

The brains of my system is an ES model Sony multi-room receiver surrounded by Klipsch speakers.

For Audio, I turn to my two 400 CD Sony CD players, piggy-backed and a Sony CD burner.

This is by no means all of my system, but the bulk of it.

Maybe someday you’ll be interested in reviewing the entertainment venue called “my home” just north of Tampa, FL
