Winegard to introduce new off-air HDTV antenna
December 27, 2004
Winegard will introduce the Sharpshooter SS-3000 at this year’s CES in Las Vegas. The SS-3000 is an off-air antenna specifically designed to receive off-air HDTV signals, while rejecting multi-path interference. The SS-3000 is said to receive and resonate DTV/HDTV transmissions from reflected broadcast signals making it well suited for urban-metropolitan locations, where line of-sight to the transmitter source is blocked. This should allow apartment & condominium dwellers a better chance at receiving digital broadcasts. In addition the SS-3000 is said to offer excellent noise rejection.
Winegard has also updated its SS-1000 Square-Shooter outdoor antenna system with a more powerful amplified version, called the Square-Shooter SS-2000. In my experience the SquareShooter was already quite a good antenna and the increased amplification of the the SS-2000 might just make it ideal for those farther away from local transmission towers.
