You can hear the hard drive running all the time, even after you have turned the receiver "off." I stuck an electricity usage monitor on it. With nothing turned on, the ViP722 uses .30 kwh every six hours, according to my P3 International Kill A Watt usage meter. So, if you have a ViP722, add up the hours you are NOT using it, multiply that number by .30 and the result times your local electrical utility's per kwh usage rate and that is how much the thing is costing you to just sit there and look pretty.

I have a Dish Network ViP722 HD receiver. We would constantly loose the signal...the weather was fine. The took out of my acct the balance due, saying that when I signed the contract it stated that in there.Since cancelling my service I have received anywhere from 2 calls per day up to 6 calls. Each call shows up on my caller id. One time they spoke to husband (who's name isn't even on the account) threatening that I would be charged for all eqiupment that was not sent back to them(they are sending boxes and a prepaid shipping slip). I have not rec'd any boxes. I called to find out why the money was taken out of my acct without my authorization and to stop calling me. I told the supervisor that being that I am a responsible adult, paying my bill in full each month before it was due, that as soon as I rec'd the boxes the eqiupment would be sent back, as I do not want it. My next call 's will the state attorney general

Last week I cancelled my contract with Dish…didn’t care that I had to pay $13.33 per month for the 5 months remaining on my contract. I just had dish installed last week and signed that the installation was completed. The next day I noticed the remote in the bedroom didn't work most of the time. I called and they said they would send someone out to switch the antenna to the other receiver nearer the bedroom, but when they arrived they said it would be $100 to correct the problem with the install, and instead gave me a long cable so I can drape the remote antenna in the living room to better receive the signal from the bedroom remote. I called to complain, but had no luck. The next step I am taking is to complain to AT&T and let them know they have partnered with a company with terrible customer service. I, too, was told I had no contract period-- but I guess I had better read what I signed. Can we put together a class action suit?

I wish I had seen this before I switched from COX!
