NEC ultra short throw projector

January 31, 2005

NEC has announced a new ‘front’ projection system that could bring the technology to those that until now just didn’t have the screen to projector distance, necessary to make it happen, in as little as 2 feet away from the screen in some cases. The new projection system dubbed ‘View Tech’ is currently aimed at the presentation market, but that could change with enough consumer interest.

The current model View Tech or ‘View Light’ (depending on how you read the translation) projectors sport specifications such as a contrast ratio of 3,500: 1 and 1,024×768 resolution. The short throw projectors from NEC should be available in Japan early this year.

Hi Miguel, this post is pretty dated, I did find this however:

“NEC WT615 has the world’s shortest throwing distance. While normal front projectors require a throw distance of Meters, the WT615 can achieve up to a 2.0m diagonal screen display in less than 45cm.”

    Hope that helps.

From your info I could not figure out what the throw distance would be for this model, and will it handle home theater requirments?
