Denon embraces XM radio for the home
April 7, 2005
Now I have to admit this is pretty darn cool, Denon will add XM satellite radio capabilities to it’s soon to be released AVR-4806, said to be an industry first for A/V receivers. Denon states all that is needed to activate the XM portion is an optional antenna (and subscription of course).
The Denon AVR-4806 ($3,500 retail) is slated for a mid April release, and includes all the typical AVR accouterments, such as 6.1 and 5.1-channel Dolby surround processing as well as DTS playback and THX Ultra2 and THX EX certification.
If the features of the Denon AVR-5803 made your home theater heart swoon, but made your wallet gasp for breath, the 4806 is probably worth a look. Features notwithstanding this is still quite an expensive receiver, but given Denon’s build quality of late, I’d still be very interested in giving this one an audition.
