I almost filed this one in the about freaking time category, but ‘HDTV programming’ rolls off the tongue a little easier. Honestly if there was ever a channel that screamed out for high definition its National Geographic. According to a TV week.com article (annoying subscription required) the Nat Geo channel is ramping up hi-def production in preparation for a re-launch of the channel in high definition, or a separate channel altogether.
I for one say about time, this channel consistently offers unique and worthwhile programming, and hi-def makes more sense for nat-geo than just about any other channel I can think of. Apparently the goal is ramp up hi-def production now, with enough content to fill half of the prime time slots by January 2006, with a full time HDTV schedule by year’s end 2006.
Way to go National Geographic, now if we could just get FX on board.
