I just got my 6412 installed last week and I came home in the middle of taping a show tonight when I wanted to watch the baseball game, but the damn thing was muted - and someone had reprogrammed the mute button to the TV (previous customer no doubt)!
This is a life saver, thanks!

Thanks for this fantastic tip. Another alternative is found on the DVR universal remote control manual - look for the heading of "Changing Volume Lock". Following step #1 and #2 above, enter 993 and then press VOL - once. The mode key will blink 4 times confirming unlock. This allow you to use the MUTE button under "cable" mode to unmute either the recording in progress or the sound on the second tuner.

Great tip. But, if you're using an HD DVR you have no excuse for not upgrading the remote ;-)

A good tip for those not using a universal remote that can accomodate both the audio receivers mute and DVR’s mute buttons.
