Lakewood HV-4, 4” cooling fan

July 7, 2005

4Yeah I know, what does a small fan have to with home theater? Well if you’ve ever tried to install a rack full of gear in an enclosed space, you already know that heat dispersion is priority one once you get 5 or 6 pieces of A/V gear bunched up together without direct ventilation. I ran across these little 4” fans at Target the other day while looking for a larger oscillating fan for the home office. The second I saw these little guys I knew I needed a few of them.

The cool thing (haha I had to) about these fans is that you can point them up or down on the adjustable base to better direct the airflow. I now have one behind my equipment, aiming at my receiver and DVR and another behind my computer. Everything is running much much cooler and cooler to equipment equals longer life. Not bad for $4.99 a pop eh? For some reason Target doesnt seem to sell them on-line, I found mine the old fashioned way, by walking into the store.

This year they are Hawaii breeze fans at 5.99. 8 times as much air and 1/2 the noise of the little 80MM a/c fans
