DISH Network to add 4 HD channels

May 19, 2006

Dish HDHey two DISH Network updates in the same week, these guys are busy. I’m currently a Comcast subscriber but I just might have to rethink that choice.

One of the four new HD channels coming to DISH happens to be one of my favorite channels, even though I only have access to the SD version with Comcast.

According to this thread over at SatelliteGuy’s, DISH Network is scheduled to add the following HD channels in early June:

Home & Garden HD
National Geographic HD
NFL HD
Starz HD

Yeah NatGeo in HD! I’ll admit it, I’m a documentary geek and NatGeo offers up some great original programming in my opinion. With these additions DISH would have about twice the HD channels that DirecTV offers.

Surely there’s room for more HD over at DirecTV with all those new satellites they’ve launched recently. The ball is now in your court DirecTV.

The problem is that to get the National Geograhic HD channel you need to get their most expensive programming. Directv at least offers it in their HD package.
