All Six Star Wars Films in HD, Seriously.
August 17, 2006
This November Cinemax will air all six “Star Wars” movies in HD for the first time. Lucasfilm and Time Warner (Cinemax’s parent company) have reportedly stuck a deal to air the films in full HD glory throughout the month (and presumably longer) of November.
Apparently the films that comprise the original trilogy will be “the same special-edition versions that were most recently released on DVD.” And of course the ‘Revenge of the Sith’, ‘Attack of the Clones’ and ‘The Phantom Menace’ have already made their way in some form or another to HD cable but not on the same channel, in the same month along with the original trilogy films.
Star Wars Geeks fans rejoice, it looks like November on Cinemax will be your first HD airing of one of the most beloved science fiction franchises of all time, from start to finish. One has to wonder if Mr. Lucas hasn’t softened to the idea of high definition of late, it was speculated that the original trilogy was off-limits for HD, until the planned hi-def disc releases of the 6-part epic “sometime in 2007 or 2008″.
