DirecTV announces 25 new local HD markets

DirecTVDirecTV announced 25 new markets eligible for local channels in HD. According to DirecTV “After the expansion, 67 percent of DirecTV’s markets will have local HD broadcasts. With the expansion, the markets will cover approximately 74 percent of U.S. households with a television.” The new markets eligible for local channels in HD include:

  • Albuquerque, N.M.
  • Mobile, Ala.
  • Buffalo, N.Y.
  • New Orleans
  • Des Moines, Iowa
  • Norfolk, Va.
  • Flint, Mich.
  • Oklahoma City, Okla.
  • Ft. Meyers, Fla.
  • Portland, Me.
  • Grand Rapids, Mich.
  • Providence, R.I.
  • Green Bay, Wisc.
  • Reno, Nev.
  • Greensboro, N.C.
  • Greenville, S.C.
  • Santa Barbara, Calif.
  • Spokane, Wa.
  • Harrisburg, Pa.
  • Springfield, Mo.
  • Jacksonville, Fla.
  • Toledo, Ohio
  • Little Rock, Ark.
  • Tulsa, Okla.
  • Madison, Wis.

    Does anyone know WHEN the new cities will be able to access local HD? Directv will not give me a definite date.
