Infocus Rebates Times Four

August 3, 2006

I just wanted to take minute to point out that InFocus currently offers $300 rebates on two of their home theater projectors, definitely worth considering if you’re in the market for a new front projector. The rebates are available for the IN72 and SP5000 models up until August 31st. The SP5000 is a LCD projector […]

Marantz Ships 1080p DLP Front Projector

June 29, 2006

Well it seems as if Marantz is ready to deliver DLP’s answer to 1080p front projection, the VP-11S1 is scheduled to be available to consumers in July, for a suggested retail price of $19,999. I had hoped that DLP’s first forays into 1080p front projection would offer Sony’s VPL-VW100 a run for its money. But […]

A Pearl to compliment Sony’s Ruby?

June 10, 2006

I really try to stay way from rumors here; typically rumors in the consumer electronics world even if they contain partial truth, rarely turn out to be exactly as first described. And even though I’m going to indulge this one, I do not recommend letting this un-proven bit of whispering through the grapevine, deter you […]

Wider Widescreen

May 1, 2006

Why does it still have black bars? I thought this was widescreen? I can’t tell you how many times I’ve had this conversation with my customers. I don’t blame them in the slightest however, to the uninitiated 16:9, 1.78:1, anamorphic and 2.35:1 probably sound like a foreign language. To defuse some of this confusion I […]

Sony VPL-VW100, AKA Ruby

November 1, 2005

Back in September I wrote about the ProjectionDesign Action! The VPL-VW100 (Sony internal code name Ruby) is a 3-chip SXRD, 1080p, 400watt Xenon powered spec-fest that might give those in the market for a new high-end projector reason to pause. The price you ask? Well unfortunately for those us who still grimace at the cable […]

InFocus to re-focus on the projector market

September 19, 2005

Portland Oregon television station KOIN is the displays were announced. Regardless they still make what are in my opinion some of the best front projectors to be had, and hopefully this shift back to their core business model will ensure that remains the case.

1080p front projection at last

September 12, 2005

I’m sure attendees to the recent announcement that it has begun supplying manufacturers with 1080p DMD’s for front projection. Surely the projectors themselves can’t be far off…. No not far off at all, as a matter of fact how about in-production and shipping by the end of the year? ProjectionDesign showcased its new

InFocus to unveil new generation of projectors at CEDIA 2005

August 10, 2005

Granted the short blurb of “Think you’ve seen it all? You ain’t seen nothin’ yet.” Doesn’t exactly tell us much, but I think it’s safe to assume that InFocus may have a front projection answer to the current generation of 1080p capable, rear-pro displays. Early adopters of these sets are already enjoying high definition in […]

More on Laser Projectors, images this time

June 15, 2005

Ok I bet some of you thought I had a screw loose with all this talk of “Laser Video Projectors” lately, but hopefully pictures like the one above will put things into a little better perspective, i.e. this technology is capable of some really impressive images. The projected image above was created with equipment from […]
